Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Stowe Township website (“Site”) or subscribing to Stowe Township SMS notifications (“SMS Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Site or the SMS Service.
2. Use of the Site
The Site is provided as a public information resource for residents, businesses, and visitors of Stowe Township. Content on the Site, including meeting schedules, ordinances, notices, and forms, is provided for general informational purposes. While the Township makes reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current, official records maintained by the Township Office remain the authoritative source.
You agree not to use the Site to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Township systems or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through Site forms
- Violate any applicable local, state, or federal law
3. SMS Notification Service
3.1 Program Description
Stowe Township offers an SMS notification service that delivers alerts and updates regarding Township business, including but not limited to: public meeting notices, road closures, emergency alerts, snow removal and parking notices, garbage and recycling schedule changes, and community events.
3.2 Opt-In
You may opt in to the SMS Service by submitting your mobile number through the subscription form on the Site or by texting the designated keyword. By opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Stowe Township at the mobile number provided. Consent is not a condition of receiving any Township service.
3.3 Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on Township activity and alert conditions. You may receive up to [X] messages per week under normal conditions, with additional messages during emergencies or weather events.
3.4 Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Charges are billed by your mobile carrier according to your plan. Stowe Township is not responsible for any charges incurred from your carrier.
3.5 Opt-Out
You may cancel the SMS Service at any time by texting STOP to [SHORT CODE / PHONE NUMBER]. After you send STOP, you will receive one final message confirming your unsubscription. No further messages will be sent unless you re-subscribe.
3.6 Help
For assistance, text HELP to [SHORT CODE / PHONE NUMBER], email [EMAIL], or call the Township Office at [PHONE].
3.7 Supported Carriers
The SMS Service is available on major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3.8 Changes to the SMS Service
Stowe Township may modify, suspend, or discontinue the SMS Service at any time without notice.
4. Emergency Communications Disclaimer
The SMS Service is a supplemental notification tool and should not be relied upon as your sole source of emergency information. Message delivery is subject to carrier networks and cannot be guaranteed. In an emergency, always call 911.
5. Intellectual Property
Township seals, logos, and branding may not be used without written permission. Public documents published on the Site remain public records subject to applicable law.
6. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. Stowe Township is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of external sites.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stowe Township, its officials, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the Site or the SMS Service, including damages resulting from delayed, undelivered, or inaccurate messages.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Nothing in these Terms waives any immunity or defense available to the Township under the Pennsylvania Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act or other applicable law.
9. Changes to These Terms
Stowe Township may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site or SMS Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
